Join Dr. Alfred Lam, an analyst with Chrysalix Energy Venture Capital, as he talks about how venture capitalists (VCs) evaluate potential opportunities. Dr. Lam, a CMC HQP alumnus who has over eight years R&D experience, will also offer tips on being a successful entrepreneur. Some of the topics covered by Dr. Lam include:

About Dr. Alfred Lam
Alfred joined Chrysalix EVC in 2012 with over eight years R&D experience with clean energy systems. He is a technology innovator with two patent applications and eight first-authored journal publications in the areas of chemical and electrochemical engineering.
Prior to Chrysalix EVC, Alfred was a Strategic Analyst at the Clean Energy Research Centre at the University of British Columbia (UBC) where he developed a five-year strategic energy initiative framework and championed information flow across academic institutions, commercial enterprises, and government bodies to accelerate innovation. He also led the prototype development of a Carbon Management Canada Project focused on the solar conversion of CO2 to sustainable fuels and led the design of a government-funded 1W fuel cell-based battery charger prototype. During his time at UBC, he was awarded a NSERC Innovation Challenge Award – one of three nationally – recognizing his entrepreneurial spirit and the commercial potential of his PhD research in novel fuel cell architectures.
Beyond his university work, Alfred has completed industrial internships with BASF Canada, Ballard Generation Systems, Ballard Power systems, and others and in his spare time, he is in the process of launching his own consumer-focused small business.
Alfred has a PhD in Chemical & Biological Engineering from the University of British Columbia and a BASc in Chemical Engineering from the University of Waterloo.
