For researchers

As an international leader in carbon capture, utilization and storage, as well as monitoring technologies for both CO2 storage and methane emissions, Carbon Management Canada (CMC) provides expertise and guidance to industries looking to reduce emissions.

CCUS Collaboration

CMC undertakes applied research at our Newell County Facility with industrial, academic and start-up partners to de-risk, validate and scale-up measurement and monitoring practices. We inject in a shallow reservoir – at 300m – and have observation wells to test and validate different technologies to detect the movement of CO2 beneath the subsurface. This data, technology assessments, expertise and infrastructure are available to support and advance academia.

Through the BC Research Facility, researchers can get access to the carbon capture and conversion institute’s cutting-edge equipment to de-risk, test and scale-up technologies aimed at capturing carbon from flue and other gas mixtures.

Methane Collaboration

Also at the Newell County Facility, CMC tests and validates methane emissions detection and quantification technologies and measurement methodologies. We support all methane monitoring research and current academic partners include the University of Calgary, the Southern Alberta Institute of Technologies, Waterloo University, Western University, McMaster University and more.

Training

Through CMC’s facilities, industry, government and post-secondary partnerships we offer unique, experiential education in carbon capture, utilization and storage, as well as methane monitoring. We combine field operations expertise with academic training.
